Georgetown Fire Dept Issues Flood Safety Tips
Georgetown, Texas – The Georgetown Fire Department has issued a series of flood safety tips for residents ahead of heavy rains. Officials encourage everyone to check local flood maps and weather updates regularly. Residents should prepare an emergency kit that includes water, non-perishable food, flashlights, batteries, first-aid supplies, and important documents.
Officials also advise avoiding floodwaters by never driving or walking through areas where water levels might be dangerous. Keeping informed with weather alerts and following local authorities’ advice is essential. Furthermore, residents are urged to create an evacuation plan with multiple safety routes and share the plan with family and friends.
The department recommends that residents sign up for flood alerts through the WarnCentralTexas service, which provides critical updates by text, email, or phone. This service is available to communities in Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Fayette, Hays, Lee, Llano, Travis, and Williamson counties.
