Boise NWS: Snowmelt Sparks Cold, Fast-Moving Water Warning
The US National Weather Service in Boise has released a forecast for Sunday, April 6th. The forecast provides morning low and afternoon high temperatures for several locations across the region. The temperatures are as follows:
• Baker City: Low 32°F, High 44°F, 59°F
• Boise: Low 38°F, High 48°F, 59°F
• Caldwell: Low 38°F, High 71°F, 84°F
• Fairfield: Low 17°F, High 48°F, 57°F
• McCall: Low 23°F, High 53°F, 67°F
• Meridian: Low 36°F, High 71°F, 80°F
• Mores Creek Summit: Low 29°F, High 49°F, 60°F
• Nampa: Low 34°F, High 70°F, 83°F
• Stanley: Low 25°F, High 44°F, 56°F
• Sun Valley Ski: Low 25°F, High 50°F, 61°F
• Twin Falls: Low 36°F, High 61°F, 73°F
The forecast also warns that as temperatures warm, mountain snow will melt into creeks, rivers, and lakes. This melt will cause waterways to rise and remain very cold, with the potential for fast-moving water. The National Weather Service advises caution to avoid hypothermia when around these water sources.
