Boise State Hosts Hands-On Aerospace STEM Day

On May 14, the Boise State College of Engineering hosted Aerospace Day at Boise State University. Students from Caldwell and Wilder High Schools participated in a hands-on STEM event supported by a NASA EPSCoR grant.

During the event, students designed and tested wind turbine blades, built circuits with Arduino microcontrollers, and explored the strength of various materials including plastics, ceramics, and metals. Hailey Lynch, Educational Specialist for the Boise State MER Institute, noted that the event allowed students from across the Treasure Valley to experience the role semiconductors play in aerospace engineering. Lynch's team, the Boise State student "Chip Ambassadors," led lessons on working with Arduino microcontrollers.

The event was organized with support from Boise State teams and industry partners and aimed to provide students with access to hands-on learning opportunities in STEM.
